Specimen Collection

Storage of MGP Preserve vials PRIOR to specimen collection:

MGP Preserve solution is light sensitive; always store vials in a dark place (inside the collection kit transport box or dark bag) and at room temperature (+15 to +25°C) until expiration date. Note: If any crystallization forms inside the collection vial or if the preservative solution turns yellow, appropriately discard the tube and collect the specimen using another collection tube.

Specimen Collection

1. Label the MGP Preserve vial with at least two patient identifiers.
2. Immediately after collecting the specimen, place 200-800 μl of pancreatic cyst fluid sample directly into the solution vial. Transfer to non-MGP Preserve vials is strongly prohibited.
3. Secure the tube cap and invert several times to mix the collected sample.

Storage of MGP Preserve vials AFTER specimen collection:

PancreaSeq sample (s) should be promptly shipped for testing OR stored frozen at -15 to -25 °C. They may be shipped at room temperature via overnight delivery, but inclusion of a cold pack is recommended. Do not ship on a Friday.

Shipping

1. Ensure that all vials are labeled with at least two unique patient identifiers.
2. Place the specimen vial(s) in the bio-hazard bag along with a flat, frozen cold pack (recommended).
3. Include a completed test requisition form AND a copy of either the endoscopy (EUS) report or cytopathology report for each sample. Alternatively, the test requisition form and reports may be submitted electronically via the MGP Web Portal.
